Position OverviewThe registered nurse is under the direct supervision of the nurse in charge and is responsible for providing direct patient care management. The RN fosters positive, professional communications, functions according to the standards of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and the Churchill Regional Health Authority and will function as Nurse in Charge as directed by the Nursing Supervisor or Nurse in Charge. The registered nurse will participate in Quality Service and Quality Improvement Programs and function as a member of the health care team, participating in staff education and professional development.
ExperiencePrevious acute care experience an asset.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Graduate of a recognized diploma and/or degree program in nursing.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationMust be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.Current CPR Certification. ACLS an asset.Qualifications and SkillsScope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.Ability to foster good public relationships and effective working relationships.Demonstrates a calm and confident manner during emergency and/or difficult situations.Physical RequirementsPossible heavy lifting.Possible posture and muscle problems.Possible contact with clients/patients with aggressive behavior.Working with sharp objects.Other demands as it pertains to position.Possible extreme fatigue due to shift work.This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
