About the Job: Nurse Manager - Operating Room We are excited to offer a pivotal role of Nurse Manager in our Operating Room at a premier hospital located in West Los Angeles, CA. This position oversees the operational, financial, and administrative operations of a 24-hour nursing department in the Operating Room. You'll lead a dedicated team of 47 professionals, including 13 Operating Room RNs, managing an average of 1,100 diverse surgical cases per month spanning general, ENT, GYN, robotic, bariatric, plastic & reconstructive, ortho, joints, sports medicine, and gender re-assignment surgeries. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care, fostering a patient-focused environment that complies with regulatory standards and improves health outcomes.
Compensation: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 plus Signing Bonus and Paid Relocation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and manage the nursing staff to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, resolving any procedural issues; Implement and evaluate departmental policies and procedures to meet regulatory compliance and operational efficiency; Develop and oversee the department budget, ensuring proper resource allocation for optimal department operation; Conduct continuous performance evaluation of personnel and provide coaching and leadership to enhance staff development; Facilitate communication between staff, management, and other administrative personnel to improve patient care; Directly manage and supervise patient care responsibilities and the integration of new technologies into department practices; Coordinate and assist in managing critical incidents and emergency situations in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Minimum Position Qualifications: BSN or higher degree in Nursing; Minimum of 5 years of full-time equivalent experience as an OR RN, with no ambulatory surgery center experience accepted; Minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent in OR management or supervisory roles (Charge Nurse experience does not meet this criterion); Current or very recent experience in OR nursing, reflecting updated practices and knowledge; Proven ability to manage a large team within a high-stress environment; Strong understanding and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to surgical operations. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN); Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credentials; Previous management experience within a unionized healthcare environment; Demonstrated leadership in implementing policy changes; Experience in multi-specialty surgical settings, especially with innovative surgical techniques. Skills: Advanced leadership and organizational management skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders including staff, patients, and regulatory bodies; Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively; Proficient in both manual and computerized record-keeping and database handling; Strategic planning and forecasting abilities in healthcare settings; Expertise in continuous improvement practices and quality control measures.
