as caregiver supervisor, support and instructor as needed, ensuring
that routine care is delivered as per standards of care and as per
established policies and proceduresServes in an administrative
role, ensuring that all household duties are performed by designated
staff, i.e., laundry is completed and put away, garbage is collected and
disposed of properly, syringes are sanitized, etc.Assists in any way needed to ensure smooth functioning of both houses.Ensures attitudes and actions toward residents, families and staff are consistent with core values and supports the mission.Is a support to residents and families who are grieving, have questions and issues with care and provides compassionate support.Ensures
that at the time of death, reverence and respect for the deceased
resident and family is provided according to the customs and traditions
of care of the body, the room; leading and including the family in the
final prayers, if they so choose.Serve as a resource for all questions regarding resident care or general house operations.Orient all care staff to perform at a level necessary to maintain excellent standards of care. Duties and Responsibilities: Receives
report prior to the beginning of the shift on current status of
residents and relevant safety or family issues, new or pending orders,
any issues that require follow up, current staffing and potential
staffing issues, caregiver concerns or specific instruction needsPrepare to give a brief report to oncoming In House Administrator or designee.Report should start at 7:50 am, ending no later than 8:00 amReport
should include pertinent information such as staffing concerns, calls
to hospice and/or families, household maintenance issues, and resident
changes in condition.Rounds on all residents and introduces self to family members if present.Oversees,
supports, supervises and evaluates caregivers in their role
performance, family or concerns and reports any major concerns to the
Director of Resident Care, or designeeComplete annual and 90-day evaluations for all staff you hold accountable, including all annual competencies.Reports resident care problems and care needs to Hospice in a timely manner.Mentor through your behaviors and actions proper standards of care.If a new medication is ordered, or changed, label and prepare that medication as per policy for caregivers to manage.Instructs
caregivers on any new Hospice orders as well as on sound clinical
observations and resident support that may be needed.Follows medication procedure as outlined in On Call manual when medications are initiated, changed, or discontinued.Notify
caregivers of any order changes and document changes in the resident
log as well as in the communication book and white board as needed, and
encourage caregivers to document resident status after the order change
is activated.Ensures that staff are correctly documenting in
the communication book and 24-hour flow sheet and provides necessary
feedback for learning.Orient new staff and keep competencies up-to-date on existing staff.Assist in annual education and training.Arrive no later than ten minutes before shift begins.Receive notification of all resident deaths and attend resident death.Offer administrative presence to family, other residents, staff and volunteers.Be present and ensure that staff attends and participates in all educational classes. General: Be familiar with the oxygen system, fire and security systems, and evacuation plan.Be knowledgeable about Core Standards of Care.Work with staff to replace caregivers who are last minute call offs to provide safe coverage for the house and the residents.Authorize overtime.Authorize switching shifts.Use judgment to change staffing schedule or change tasks for caregivers as necessary.If no other option, work the floor to replace the caregiver.
