Position Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner will work in collaboration with physicians and the wound care team to deliver expert care for patients with chronic and acute wounds.
This includes providing comprehensive assessments, developing individualized care plans, performing procedures, and offering patient education to optimize healing and prevent complications.

Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced wound care assessments and interventions.
Develop and implement evidence-based wound management plans.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and families on wound prevention and care strategies.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with GW Hospital's policies and state regulations.

Current ANCC certification and D.C.
licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
OR Master's degree as a Physician Assistant and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current NCCPA certification and D.C.
licensure as a Physician Assistant.
Additional Qualifications: Previous experience is preferred but not required. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy supervision experience preferred PA-Cs with current surgical assistant experience may be grandfathered for Surgical Assistant (SA) duties. New Graduate PAs or PA-Cs without recent surgical assisting experience will: Be granted learner status until the successful completion of a structured orientation program (such as the one at GWU).
Complete an individualized learning plan, which requires corporate approval from the Acute Care Corporate CMO.
SA-C certification is required for duties involving surgical first assisting. Completion of an accredited educational program for surgical first assisting is mandatory.
CRNFA certification is required following the completion of surgical training.
For APRN programs (with surgical assisting training), the following are necessary: Additional training beyond standard APRN education.
A 140-hour surgical internship arranged at the facility.
Acceptable programs include NIFA (National Institute of First Assisting) or a formal Surgical Residency/Fellowship program.
