Organization: Pediatric Acute Care

Job Summary: The Division of Pediatric Outreach Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (MCJCHV) seeks an acute care APRN for position as a VUMC Nurse Practitioner with the Division of Outreach Medicine. The Division is currently comprised of faculty and staff who cover a variety of services including Community Based Hospital Medicine, After Hours Clinics and Newborn Medicine. Applicants with a clinical focus on Urgent Care Medicine will be considered. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a track record of excellence in clinical care, graduate medical education or research and possess outstanding leadership skills.

The APRN will demonstrate an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgement, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation.

This is a full-time or part-time position, located at one of the five After Hours locations, with possible hours 7 days a week. This will include evening and weekend coverage.

Position Hours Weekdays - 5:30pm - 10:00pm
Weekends - 12:00pm - 8:00pm

Newborn Pediatrics
Pediatric Hospital Medicine
This Advanced Practice Provider would support our patients in our Pediatrics, Ambulatory, and After Care Sick Visits in our after hours clinics within Smyrna, Murfreesboro, and Hendersonville.

Family Nurse Practitioner FNP
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner CPNP-PC or CPNP-AC
Physician Assistant PA
Prior APP Experience Preferred
Key Responsibilities: Principal duties and Responsibilities: Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes Attending Physicians, RNs, LPNs, MAs, Care partners and PSS. Facilitate and guide care in the After-Hours Clinics by performing comprehensive problem-focused patient evaluations; formulate and implement therapeutic plans of care; and perform minor procedures in clinic. Complete appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care and services rendered in the patient electronic medical record per policy. Attend After Hours educational and care conferences.

Key Functions and Expected Performances: Diagnosis Manages procedures and diagnostic test through ordering, interpretation, and collaboration. Formulates differential diagnoses by priority. Diagnoses complications and orders appropriate interventions.

Formulates Plan of Care Identifies expected outcomes from diagnosis and formulates and documents a plan of care to address the health care needs.

Utilizes evidenced based practice guidelines or protocols in an individualized dynamic plan of care.

Implements and modifies plan of care Prescribes diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and procedural, needed to achieve expected outcomes.

Manages further diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision.

May perform advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation.

Documentation Documents key components of patient's visit in clinic notes and procedure notes in the electronic medical record.

Documentation is timely, meets acute care compliance standards and captures patient acuity.

Professional Practice Demonstrates Professional Practice behaviors including preceptor/mentoring, education and instruction of students, nursing staff and nurses.

Seeks opportunities for active engagement in research and the analysis of evidence-based practice.

Actively participates in Grand Rounds, APN council meetings, faculty meetings, and M&M presentations.

Maintains CEUs, and membership in a professional organization.
