General Summary of PositionThe individual in this position serves as Operations Administrator. Plans, directs, and manages the departmental service line with oversight of clinical, fiscal, and operational performance. This position works closely with, as well as under the direction of the AVP, Oncology Services, in strategic planning, financial and business analytics, administrative workflow optimization and management of growth projects. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates and collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, patients and families and other Hospital departments regarding clinical operational activities of clinical areas. Ensures that all services meet and comply with licensure, accreditation, and JCAHO standards. Administers and maintains all department services in accordance with standards and criteria established by JCAHO, state, local and federal agencies to ensure compliance with those external requirements.Oversees and manages the clinical and administrative activities of the outpatient care delivery areas of the Lombardi Cancer Center clinics. Inclusive of but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, coaching, counseling and firing employees. Supervises and evaluates the overall daily functioning of each area. Prepares and modifies assignments to meet patient care requirements. Anticipates and organizes opportunities for staff education and training. Responsible for oversight of evaluation of staff. Oversees payroll andParticipates in strategic planning and new program development across the Cancer Service Line. Assists in the coordination, development, and implementation of business and marketing plans within the scope of the Clinical care delivery of the cancer center.Participates in monitoring and controlling assigned operational and capital budgets within administrative/departmental guidelines. Manages designated equipment and supplies to support clinical needs of division including inventory, utilization and distribution. Consults with Administrator regarding changing trends and practice issues affecting equipment and supplies.Prepares and reviews revenue, staffing, operating and capital budgets and ensures that fiscal targets are met. Analyzes and reports on budget variances, assists departments in the development of action plans to ensure unfavorable variances are improved, and monitors and tracks oversight activity to ensure Division execution and compliance with corrective action plan. ParticClose collaboration and facilitation with CRMO (Clinical Research Management) nursing staff to ensure appropriate education of staff regarding specific needs of Clinical Research patients and their care. Participates in research and development activities of the Cancer Center.Represents department on Nurse Executive Council, Cancer Committee, or other appropriate shared governance councils in the cancer center.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. Minimum Qualifications EducationAssociate's degree of an accredited School of Nursing required Bachelor's degree in an applicable field required Master's degree in Health or Business Administration or Nursing required
Experience5-7 years experience to include: 4 years of experience in a supervisory position inclusive of at least 3 years in a large clinical practice arena or academic medical center. required 3-4 years nursing experience in specialized field of oncology required One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Licenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia. required OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification within 1 Year required ONS - Certification in Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Program - Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust be accurate and detail oriented with an ability to handle multiple projects and reach multiple deadlines.Ability to serve as a resource person to resolve administrative problems, and exercise sound judgment and decision making.Excellent time management skills with an exceptional ability to plan organize and implement a plan to completion.Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.a good understanding of chemotherapy and infusion therapies and protocols.
This position has a hiring range of $118,331 - $230,172
