POSITION SUMMARY








The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for oversight of all operations of the IDD nursing department, including care for individuals served, supervision of RN's and Health Service Specialists.
The Nurse supervisor is responsible for overseeing all medical care provided to clients, documentation of outside medical services and coordination of internal medical support in order to ensure the best overall care for each person.
This person will also coordinate related training specific to DHS Rule 116 for all CILA staff.

Essential Functions Statement(s)




Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and coordinates overall health of IDD Residential and Day program clients in collaboration with all Health Service staff through internal care and coordination with external medical care providers.








Communicates and collaborates with Leadership Team regarding IDD nursing and medical needs.








Interview, hire, train, engage, oversee and evaluate all Nursing department staff.








Oversees the comprehensive assessment of the residents' needs, which include medically defined conditions and medical functional status, sensory and physical impairments, nutritional status and requirements, psychosocial status, discharge potential, dental condition, activities potential, rehabilitation potential, cognitive status, and drug therapy.








Ensure that DHS Rules 116 & 115 is followed for all CILA clients and Rule 119 for day service clients.








Participates in and/or facilitates service delivery audits by external auditing entities, as needed.








In collaboration with agency Administration, allocates department resources in an




efficient and economic manner to enable each client to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.








Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, contractors and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate client care, related administrative functions and to represent the interests of the agency.








Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, agency philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.








Responsible for completion of IDD CILA Nurse Packets.
Oversee the comprehensive assessment of the residents' needs, which include medically defined conditions and medical functional status, sensory and physical impairments, nutritional status and requirements, psychosocial status, discharge potential, dental condition, activities potential, rehabilitation potential, cognitive status, and drug therapy.








Train and supervise all medical staff in use of agency Electronic Health Record, ensuring maximized use and efficiencies.








Provides appropriate entries into records and follow-up care and services to clients.








Medical follow-up and illness prevention for IDD residential clients.








Ongoing communication with families and guardians regarding client medical issues.








Participate in the screening of prospective residents and their placement in terms of services they need and nursing competencies available.








Responsible for Nurse follow-up and medication monitoring of assigned CILA group homes.








Accompany those residents with more involved medical/psychiatric conditions to medical appointments as needed.








Provide, or direct team to provide training for staff on relevant medical issues within the program.








Coordinate annual flu shots and other preventative shots with assistance of Nursing department staff.








Mentor MCC and BSN nursing students.








Complete monthly medication ordering & check in, POS's, review MAR's mid-month and end of month and complete quarterly medication error report.








Complete on-call nursing calendar.








Coordinate and assist with on-site doctors and clinics as well as develop relationship for new clinics as needs change








Develop preventative healthcare measures, visiting the group homes to monitor medical services provided and re-train as necessary.








Coordinate all referrals for OT, PT, Speech and other therapies.








Follows HR policies and completes HR paperwork.
Contacts HR with questions concerning either.








Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Nursing












*Experience:*




3 plus years of experience in IDD Nursing.




1 plus years supervisory experience: Preferred

State of Illinois Nursing License required.


Nurse Trainer Certificate required.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.




Must be able to meet agency driver safety requirement of carrying personal vehicle insurance with the following limits:
