Description
A Nutritional Services Assistant completes set-up, serving and clean up in the cafeteria, maintaining proper temperatures within the strictest sanitation standards.
Portions salads and dessert for patients.
Scheduled workdays and times could vary and will include weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.Washes dishesCleans and sanitizes equipment and work area per daily and weekly schedule.Portions salads and desserts for patients (refer to workflow 7A)Maintains an orderly condition of assigned work area.Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and physician related informationIs knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Completes assigned daily duties.Willingly accepts reassignment to other duties if necessary.Follows expected work practices.Displays thoroughness and accuracy of work.Works in a safe manner, including reporting unsafe equipment or environment.Well organized, accepts assignments willingly and accomplishes them quickly.Anticipates problems and suggests solutions.Helps with not specifically assigned duties.Works steadily and always keeps busy.Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and interact with patients, visitors, and staff in the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric/adolescent, Adult, and GeriatricAbility to work well with a diverse work team.Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.Ability to concentrate.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Good mental health and emotional maturityGood personal grooming and hygiene

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.Graduation from high school is preferred.Must have the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Knowledge of sanitation process required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Food Handlers Sanitation Certificate or willing to obtain within 30 days. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walkingRequired to climb, balance, stoop and kneel.Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential exposure to chemicals and communicable diseasesCould be subject to mechanical hazards.
Requires working in hot and cold temperatures.The noise level is quiet to moderate.
