Foundation Health Partners (FHP) is seeking an OB/GYN Hospitalist to join our collegial team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
The Opportunity: Fairbanks Memorial Hospital (FMH) is in the process of establishing an OB/GYN Hospitalist service to bolster our obstetric care and build a maternal safety net. With approximately 1,000 births annually, FMH serves as the only community hospital for more than 350 miles, providing crucial support to Alaska residents including Alaska Native communities and nearby military installations. This role involves close collaboration with local obstetricians to ensure consistent, experienced care for every expectant mother who enters our facility. Our women and infant services unit offers a centralized location for maternal and newborn care, featuring a triage room that we plan to convert to an OB ED, a fully equipped operating suite for Cesarean deliveries and additional capacity in the hospital's 7 room OR down the hall. Additionally, our Level II NICU is staffed by skilled pediatric hospitalists and nurses trained in neonatal intensive care, ensuring comprehensive support for infants in need of specialized medical attention.
Compensation: $3,800 per 24hr shift. $65k sign-on bonus. Benefits: Full employee benefits, medical, vision, dental, 401k. Schedule: 96 shifts per year (8 shifts/month). Partners : Exceptional in-house anesthesia, adult and pediatric hospitalists, and psychiatric teams. Backup midwives when OB physicians are unavailable. OB/GYN Hospitalist Scope of Practice: Support labor & delivery for patients who haven't established care with a local obstetrician and for patients whose obstetrician is unavailable. Consultations as requested from the emergency department and inpatient services. Emergency and urgent surgery including C-sections and gynecologic surgeries/procedures. Evaluate and manage high-risk obstetrics patients. Inpatient rounding and day-to-day management of admitted patients.
