Harrison County Hospital is seeking an OB Scrub Tech to join our team. Scrub Tech experience required. Must be able to scrub c-sections. Under the supervision of the department of nursing, this position performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit and serves as the focal communication source in the nursing station through interaction with patients, visitors, staff, other departments, and physicians. This position performs and understands sterile technique, setting up and tearing down vaginal delivery tables. Under the supervision of the surgery department, this position also performs and understands sterile technique and sets up and turns over the OB surgical suite for cesarean sections.
STATUS: PRN (as needed) Rotating Shift (Days and Nights)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or Equivalent One of the following: Certification as a surgical technologist, one year previous experience as an OB Surgery Technician, completion of an accredited surgical technology program, or appropriate abilities and education as determined by the hospital, such as LPN, RN, etc. SKILLS: Application of external fetal and maternal monitor. Good knowledge of medical terminology. Use of correct terminology, spelling, grammar in documentation. Effective verbal and communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment. JOB SUMMARY: The OB Scrub Tech functions as a scrub assistant to the doctor, helping in the set-up and breakdown of the operating room. Responsibilities include assisting the doctor with vaginal deliveries, maintaining delivery logs, and assisting nurses as needed. The candidate should be emotionally stable and mature, accurate, and flexible in interactions with others.
