GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provides medical and surgical care to women with a focus on pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system. This includes preventative care, Pap test screening, family planning, management of pregnancy, labor, and puerperium, and the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.
DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
Provides direct outpatient and nursing home medical services in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology.Refers patients to appropriate specialty care as needed and ensures communication and follow-up with specialty care providers.Communicates effectively with patients regarding their health/illness, empowers patients to take an active role in health maintenance, and promotes wellness behaviors.Participates in the Health Center's on-call and hospital coverage system.Clinical Supervision of Mid-level Providers, Nursing Staff, and TraineesProvides clinical supervision of mid-level providers through case consultation and chart review.Provides clinical supervision for nursing staff for triage, medication refills, referrals, and nursing services visits.Provides teaching to medical students, resident physicians, mid-level provider students, and nursing students.Continuing Medical EducationParticipates in continuing medical education appropriate to Community Health Center practice.Develops and presents continuing medical education sessions for Community Health Center staff members.GeneralAttends staff, departmental, and interdepartmental team meetings.Position requires:License to practice medicine in CaliforniaBoard eligible or board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.Admitting/Consult privileges in a local hospital/medical center (preferred)Ability to clinically supervise mid-level providers.Ability to provide high-quality, cost-effective health care to patients of all ages and genders.Ability to work effectively with co-staff members and patients from diverse backgrounds.Willingness to work flexible hours.Ability to work independently and creatively solve problems.Commitment to supporting the mission and principles of the Community Health Center.Documents all pertinent information in patient's electronic medical record according to Policies and Procedures.Upholds Policies and Procedures, infection control standards, and applicable laws.Quality Improvement Duties:Participates in quality improvement activities.Contributes to Community Health Center efforts in quality improvement.Perform on-call services as assigned.Other duties as assigned.This position has a salary range of $288,806 - $426,573 annually.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an approved medical school.Completion of an OB/GYN residency program (minimum of 4 years) accredited by ACGME.Experience in primary and preventive care during residency.Serving as chief (senior) resident during final year of residency.ADDITIONAL PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with an electronic practice management system.Computer literate.
