Occupational Safety & Industrial Hygienist Intern

Do you want to experience what it is like to be part of a utility safety team? The Lower Colorado River Authority is seeking college students with strong safety and industrial hygiene background for the LCRA Safety & IH Intern Program. This is a 10-to-12-week program designed to expose safety and industrial hygiene students to safety and health programs within the utility industry. Interns will become integral members of the LCRA Safety Services team throughout their entire placement. This is an opportunity to apply safety, health and industrial hygiene knowledge in a business environment.
You will be trusted to:
- Meet with organizational stakeholders to identify safety/IH problems and opportunities
- Utilize safety and IH instrumentation in an effort to characterize occupational exposures and identify health hazards
- Research industry concepts, ideas, and best practices in safety and IH
- Read relevant texts, articles, and sources on all sides of safety and IH topics
- Formulate recommendations and alternatives based on your sampling and research
- Prepare memos and/or presentations to present your research, findings, conclusions and recommendations
- Justify your recommendations with data and objective logical reasoning
- Explain alternative viewpoints and stakeholder feedback

You qualify with:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in senior year or has recently completed senior year (i.e., summer after graduating with a bachelor's degree).
You are a great fit with:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
- In the Senior year of an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university, with some advanced coursework related to the internship.
