Ocular Oncologist

Details of the offer

The Dean McGee Eye Institute (DMEI) is seeking a talented ophthalmologist with an interest in assuming a practice with a robust clinical and surgical volume, excellent clinical (and basic science) research opportunities, faculty participation in an outstanding residency program, and state-of-the-art facilities, including a DMEI-owned ambulatory surgery center. The ideal candidate will develop a practice caring for a varied mix of neoplastic and masquerade disorders in adults and children, as well as the opportunity to practice comprehensive ophthalmology (or another subspecialty if fellowship trained) at their discretion. Experience in treating ocular, orbital, and adnexal diseases both primarily, as well as in conjunction with multi-subspecialists such as neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, plastic surgery, oral maxillofacial surgery, and medical/surgical/radiation oncology is desirable. A mindset of collaborative collegial growth between our current partners, residents and fellows, partnering subspecialists, and support staff is necessary.
The Institute provides more than 225,000 total patient visits annually in its 150,000 square-foot location in downtown Oklahoma City as well as its 4 satellite locations. The Department houses many National Institutes of Health-funded investigators greatly interested in collaboration and translational research. A full-time Clinical Trials Unit also is available. Many of the faculty serve in national leadership positions. Salary support is highly competitive.
Oklahoma City, with a population of over 700,000 and a metropolitan area of 1.3 million (the 20th largest city in the US), is experiencing an ongoing major downtown renaissance and enjoys a low cost of living and unemployment rate, lots of sunshine, and numerous cultural and recreational opportunities (including NBA Thunder basketball).
Minimum RequirementsCandidates must have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency and a recognized fellowship in ocular oncology, be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma, and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
