Responsibilities
• Receive and address complaints, concerns, and inquiries from faculty, staff, and students.• Offer active listening and assistance in identifying resources and potential paths to resolution.• Maintain impartiality and confidentiality, except where reporting is required by law or by the University.• Operate independently from other institutional offices.• Collaborate with colleagues in a shared governance environment.• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
• Possess a bachelor's degree.• Membership in the International Ombuds Association.• At least five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.• Experience with conflict resolution.• Demonstrated ability to be an active listener, flexible, diplomatic, ethical, fair, and collaborative.• Problem-solving, time-management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.• Experience working with diverse populations.• Effective written and verbal communication skills.• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
