Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Oncology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, 7a-7p, 48 hrs/week, 4x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 48 Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG, Chemo/ONS required Must-Have: Travel experience Job Description: - Provide professional nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices.- Assess and reassess patients, applying the nursing process for chemotherapy administration, specialized procedures, pain management, sedation, special isolations, and end of life care.- Use specialized medical equipment for patients undergoing chemotherapy and other procedures, including specialized IV drips, titration, IV therapy, transfusion therapy, and accessing central lines.- Administer medications and manage patient information effectively.- Conduct head-to-toe assessments and re-assessments as per policy.- Deliver individualized, age-specific care to support homeostatic regulation and hemodynamic monitoring.- Maintain accurate and continuous nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments of changes.- Respect and uphold patient confidentiality; identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families.- Function as a patient advocate, involving the patient and family in the care plan formation.- Formulate and evaluate teaching plans based on identified learning needs, including family participation as appropriate.- Supervise healthcare staff, allocate and monitor workloads.- Assist physicians with departmental procedures.- Respond promptly to workload changes to maintain optimal productivity and efficiency.- Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and process efficiency.- Function as a preceptor to orient new employees.- Engage in professional growth through educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops; demonstrate responsibility for ongoing education.- Ensure proper functioning of patient care equipment and maintain adequate supplies.- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.- Meet departmental competencies and perform housekeeping duties as needed.- Assist with patient transportation as needed.- Adhere to dress code and policies regarding infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.- Serve as a team leader and role model.This position requires a compassionate, dedicated nurse with a solid foundation in oncology and patient-centered care.
