Washington DC Onsite Interpreter Prisma International is actively seeking qualified, professional Interpreters, to join our team as Independent Contractors and to fulfill our Federal Government clients with Onsite Interpreting (OSI) in the Washington DC area.
Onsite Interpreters Needed for Interpretation Between English and the Following Languages: Arabic, Filipino, Mandarin, Armenian, Hebrew, Mixteco-Bajo, Farsi, Dari, Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromo, Somali, Indonesian, Cantonese, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, Romanian, Korean (North and South), Spanish, French, Khmer (Cambodian), Tagalog, Kurdish-Kurmanji, and Vietnamese
JOB DESCRIPTION: Ideal Candidate shall be able to provide:
Experience with consecutive or simultaneous onsite interpretation between a government representative and non-English speakersPolite forms of expression, enunciation, and a high-level of customer service. Deliver correct concepts and meanings between speaker and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) speaker.Correct grammar, clarity and tones between the two languages.Experience with following the speakers' direction, professionally interject when clarification is needed, and manage the flow of a conversation. Refrain from side conversations with the LEP and entering into any disagreement with the customer or LEPCompliance with applicable ethics and standardsExperience in the Federal Government industry. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: At least one (1) year of onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experienceTwo (2) professional references that can vouch for your work as an onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreterMinimum age: Must be 18+ years or older Minimum education: Must have High School DiplomaMust reside within the United States and its territories Full fluency in English and proficiency in the target languageAble to provide at least one of the following accreditations:American Translation Association (ATA)Trained or accredited through a higher education institution PAY: $53.00 - $69.00 per hour
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Interpreters must have a valid background check to provide.
DESIRED SKILLS: Experience working with agencies such as FEMA, USCIS, CBP, DHS, etc.
