Location/Department: MMPC - Orthopedic 60 hours per pay period - benefit eligible Job Summary:
Provides nursing support & nursing care to patients from infancy to geriatric in the Physician Offices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:None
Duties/Responsibilities: Uses only approved abbreviations.
Understands patient safety goals & actions taken.
Uses 2 patient identifiers before giving treatments, demonstrates process.
Understands read back of verbal orders/critical lab values & can state process.
Understands procedure to clarify physician orders.
Uses standing orders when indicated.
Accurately calls report to MD as warranted by condition; reports to other providers as needed.
Reports sentinel events or adverse drug reactions or incidents as warranted.
Uses final verification before invasive procedures & can verbalize correct process & documents in EHR.
Reassesses patient in response to changes in condition after intervention as needed & documents in EHR.
Performs clinical skills for all ages served in a timely & appropriate manner & documents in EHR.
Communicates with & provides education to patients, caregivers, & family members in a timely manner (using respect & dignity when dealing with death & dying) as directed by Provider & documents in EHR.
Takes accurate & appropriate history.
Performs appropriate physical assessment including pain assessment & use of a pain scale for all patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of & uses equipment appropriately & safely.
Accurately & timely documents medications given.
Checks expiration on medications in a timely manner Demonstrates knowledge & appropriate use of high-risk medications.
Performs & documents physical assessment in a timely & knowledgeable manner.
Provides effective & timely communication & documentation in the patient's health records.
Assists physicians during procedures in a knowledgeable & professional manner.
Demonstrates knowledge of process for procuring medications, storage, & ordering of medications from pharmacy.
Demonstrates knowledge of isolation procedures.
Cleans & maintains equipment.
Maintains security systems as appropriate.
Takes responsibility for ordering & maintaining supplies & equipment as requested.
Assists in the development & revision of triage protocols & policies as requested.
Maintains appropriate charges & statistics for patient care.
Required Skills/Abilities: Strong customer service skills Effectively communicates both verbal and written Able to operate medical & basic office equipment Education and Experience: Minimum Associate's degree in nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred No work experience required Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana Experience in orthopedics is preferred Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, & use of hands
May need to lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs
