This Container platform engineer position reports to the Strategic Engineering and (Containers as a Service) engineering manager. The primary focus of this role is administering and supporting the OpenShift Container Platform ecosystem for the organization. As a CaaS Engineer, you will be responsible for: Designing, deploying, and managing OpenShift in a cloud-native environment, focusing on automating processes to optimize performance and scalability. Key Responsibilities: • Contributes to and supports the corporate Enterprise Container Strategy by Identifying ideas to improve system performance and impact availability. • Manage the container platform ecosystem (installation, upgrade, patching, monitoring) • Assist in change management of container platform for new versions of OpenShift, Hotfixes, SysAdmin tasks, etc. • Cluster capacity management and provisioning through automation of underlying hosts. • Provides L3 engineering support. • Works with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing. • Authors/edits system documentation/playbook(s) • May assist experienced team members with the delegation of workload. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support containerized workloads, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the OpenShift cluster performance, security, and capacity. • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency. • Implement and manage container security practices, including network policies, RBAC, and other security best practices. • Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching of OpenShift clusters and underlying infrastructure. • Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices for containerization, microservices, and cloud-native architecture. • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of services across environments. Qualifications: Have hands-on experience with at least 3-4 of the following: RedHat OpenShift Container Platform Any Linux administration (preferably RHEL/CoreOS) Kubernetes Micro-services Gitlab Azure DevOps/Jenkins Rally Jfrog Artifactory/Docker Registry/Redhat Registry Have working knowledge of on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based deployments and configurations along with monitoring and management. Experience working with Agile teams and good understanding of Agile principles is a must. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience as an architect/engineer or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices. Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function. Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information. Experience working with Agile teams. Preferred Requirements: • Banking or financial services experience. • Understanding of the air gapped environments. • Knowledge about Container design standards, patterns, and best practices • Knowledge about Micro-services design standards, patterns, and best practices • Proven track record of acting as SME for Container projects. • Effective written and verbal communication skills and good listening skills. • Excellent problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze problem in multiple perspectives. • Must have a -can-do- attitude and a strong passion for technology and willingness to learn new skills. • Must be confident, self-starters, have a strong work ethic, and team oriented.
