Position Summary This position is responsible for the maintenance and support of engineering data for the Control Center's distribution and/or transmission system operational models and engineering support for routine and emergency system operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain engineering data for the Distribution / Transmission System Operational Models Research and implement updates to the Control Center Engineering Database using equipment reports from Transmission Planning, Engineering Planning, Substation Design, Substation Maintenance, and Technical Services Support engineering and GIS aspects of the daily model import process and Distribution EMS, OMS and DMS model maintenance Perform engineering analysis for load allocation and load forecasting to maintain seasonally adjusted system models Perform engineering analysis using the System Operational Models to support daily and emergency operations Support operators in modeling and analysis for planned switching using the System Operational Models Support operators in modeling and analysis for emergency operational decisions using the System Operational Models Identify operational limitations and communicate to engineering planning for development of projects Support operators in storm response through monitoring of the outage situation, assessments of operator, crew, and contractor crew resources, and performing emergency switching analysis Participate in post-event analysis with Operations Managers, District Operations, Transmission & Substation Maintenance, and System Maintenance Provide project management of specific Control Center projects as needed including implementation of Control Center dashboards and centrally controlled grid automation projects Provide engineering support for centrally controlled grid automation projects including SCADA controlled capacitor banks, SCADA controlled regulators, and Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR) projects Perform feeder reliability Root Cause Analysis and Distribution Fault Anticipation (DFA) analysis in support of distribution system reliability Support analysis, investigations, and reporting associated with relay misoperations and human error events Collaborate with other engineers by completing activities to maintain distribution facilities and providing information and analysis for distribution maintenance, system-hardening and reliability improvement programs/projects. Serve as a liaison to external customers; provide job and outage status updates, request additional design information, investigate outages and power quality issues, follow up on member technical questions and provide information and support to the Distribution Operations Center. Contribute engineering analyses for contingency planning and response efforts for system outages; work with operators and line crews to solve routine field problems; review outage reports daily for accuracy and develop solutions to mitigate (similar) future outages. Display professional and clear communication with internal customers and members, both verbal and written. Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensing) Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas OR Eight years of directly related work experience OR Six years of related work experience and a Post Graduate Engineering degree in a related discipline Valid Texas Driver's License Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
