Location: [[SCUPP- 400/700]] Shift: [[C, 6:50pm-7:00am]] Pay Rate: [[26.35]] – [[28.04]] Job Description JOB OVERVIEW: The Drawing 2 Operator is a medium skill role will be required to coordinate, set up, and operate the drawing machine to draw various sizes of copper wire from feeder stock. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent Must read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs PRIMARY JOB TASKS: Responsible for set-up and operation of multiwire drawing machine Operator should run correct wire sizes and correct lengths on proper take-up package as specified on production order Responsible for loading and unloading sets of bobbins/reels whether they are matched lengths or matched sets Responsible for making all pay-off bobbin/reel changes and take-up reel changes Operator must make high quality hot-welds and kold-welds in feeder stock in order to operate machine continuously Responsible for maintaining a layer wound package Responsible for a correct inventory of WIP tags daily Operator is responsible for proper die set-ups Operator must be capable of measuring wire after the various dies to ensure desired reduction is being achieved Operator must be capable of stringing up all wires in proper position to ensure properly constructed take-up package Operator must monitor, evaluate and adjust various machine controls in order to produce quality wire at specified production speeds Operator should be capable of checking concentration of drawing solution Operator should also be capable of diagnosing problems with feeder stock Operator must coordinate material handling with lift driver to ensure a continuous production process Operator must measure elongation of each wire on each take-up package to ensure proper annealing Operator should use non-deformed take-up and pay-off packages Operator must string up dies for wire-size changeovers and breakouts Operator should be able to examine wire to detect potential causes of breakouts Operator is responsible for making all gear changes, traverse adjustments and annealer settings Operator is responsible for weighing each take-up package prior to recording production Must be able to work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor and peers through verbal instruction and reports Put scrap into the designated scrap bins CROSS TRAINING: Will be required to cross-train on?equipment within your identified workgroup at your facility Once trained in more complex jobs, may be required to?fill the position in the event of absence or vacancy Will be required to rotate on a set frequency within your workgroup to maintain skill proficiency QUALITY: Use the company's ISO Quality System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities Perform quality checks, as outlined in the process procedures for the machine, and minor maintenance when necessary Do not release products until all quality checks have been passed Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor or quality manager SAFETY: Working safely is a condition of employment Responsible to observe Southwire safety rules and maintain good housekeeping Follow all safety procedures and rules PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Physical activity associated with daily performance of this job include: balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking and sitting Must be able to work in hot and cold environments normally found in a prefabricated building without climate-control Benefits We Offer: 401k with Matching & Pension Plan (Eligible for Pension after 1,000 Hours Worked) Family and Individual Insurance Packages (Health, Life, Dental, and Vision) Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays Long & Short-Term Disability Supplemental Insurance Plans Employee Assistance Program Employee Referral Program Tuition Reimbursement Programs Advancement & Professional Growth opportunities Parental Leave & More Southwire is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
