Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.
Responsibilities Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained Assists with patient education.
