DescriptionAs an Optical Scientist, you will have the following responsibilities:
Conduct hands-on experiments, data analysis, and simulations to characterize, understand, and eventually predict the physical properties of novel optical systems.Contribute to the design, implementation, and test of proof-of-concept systems and prototypes.Utilize your skills in data analysis and optical simulation to propose design improvements based on the results of your experiments and simulations.Work in a team and contribute to the implementation of next generation photonics devices.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's in physics, Optics, EE or a related field, with a focus on optical or photonics devices and systems: development, design, and/or experimental characterization.Understanding of Optical physics fundamentals.Experience in the alignment, test, and characterization of optical devices and systems, free-space and/or integrated optics.Experience in analysis and simulation of experimental data.Preferred QualificationsMS/PhD, Optics, EE or a related field, with a focus on optical or photonics devices and systems: development, design, and experimental characterization.The ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team environment.Experience in optical design, analysis, and simulation using commercial optics simulation tools (e.g. Zemax, Code V, FRED).Programming experience using Matlab, Python, or similar tools.At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
