Job SummaryThe Operating Room RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients in the operating room. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Hospital. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by OR Director, or Board Runner, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.
Job Responsibilities Conduct in-room audits to ensure compliance with protocols (e.g., door exchanges, proper PPE, prepping techniques, hand washing). Perform daily chart audits, including reviewing charges for accuracy. Facilitate and direct staff during case transitions, ensuring smooth turnover after procedures. Check pulled cases to confirm all instruments are prepared and create a list of needed items, discussing any turnovers with the SPD lead. Perform daily float duties as needed to support staff.
