Description

General Job Summary: Responsible for assisting providers with patient care by preparing and applying a variety of casts and durable medical equipment.


Essential Job Functions: Responsible for applying and removing casts and fitting of durable medical equipment on patients.
Responsible for the safe and efficient use of the cast saw.
Maintains adequate casting supplies.
Inspects and maintains autoclaves, cast saw vacuums, and other equipment.
Sterilize instruments.
Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
Assists in the delivery of health care and patient care management.
Maintain patient information in an electronic health records system.
Provides patient education per provider protocol.
Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards of the organization.
Ensure certifications are current and up to date.
Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements

Education/Experience: High school diploma.
Registered/Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Orthopaedic Technician certification required or Athletic Trainer certification.
Two to three years of previous clinical experience preferred.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
Other Requirements: Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends.
Travel as needed.

Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
Knowledge of medical practice care and terminology.
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.

Equipment Operated: Standard medical and office equipment.


Work Environment: Medical office and exam/procedure room settings.


Mental/Physical Requirements: Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
