Outpatient Licensed Health Care Practitioner - Substance Use Disorder Treatment CRI-Help is a substance use disorder treatment center with several locations across Los Angeles County. The Outpatient Licensed Health Care Practitioner is responsible for coordinating with CRI-Help Physician(s) and Nurse Practitioner(s) to provide supportive medical care and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services to clients in the outpatient setting.
Responsibilities Perform initial assessment and ongoing care of clients' psychiatric, medical, physical, and psychosocial statuses. Evaluate clients' health and medical histories. Perform physical exams and preventative screenings. Perform initial Psychiatric Assessments. Formulate differential diagnoses where appropriate based on history, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and evidence-based tools. Evaluate clients for MAT, obtain informed consent, and prescribe as appropriate. Educate clients on medication effects, side effects, unusual effects, benefits/risks, and contraindications in addition to alternate treatment approaches. Accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals, and follow-up. Maintain a minimum of 70% DMC billing productivity per month. Skills / Knowledge Must have an advanced understanding of the assessment and diagnosis of substance use and psychological disorders. Must have an advanced understanding of withdrawal management protocols and related care, including symptom and medication management. Must have an advanced understanding of Medications for Addiction Treatment and other evidence-based practices used in the diagnoses of substance use disorders and psychiatric disorders. Must have experience working with diverse populations. Must be able to navigate CRI-Help's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Must be computer proficient. Must have advanced knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, treatment team, and outside entities. Must have an in-depth knowledge of CARF, DHCS Alcohol and / or Other Drug Certification Standards, and Drug Medi-Cal regulations. Must have a general familiarity with the SAPC Provider Manual for substance use disorder treatment. Must have a general familiarity with ASAM Placement Criteria. Must have extensive knowledge of modern psychiatric theory and practice. Must have thorough knowledge of causes, treatment, and prevention of mental illness. Must have considerable knowledge of available community resources useful in the treatment and prevention of emotional maladjustments. Must have considerable knowledge of the clinical use of educational and psychological tests and techniques. Education / Training A current and valid license to practice medicine in the State of California at the time of hire. May consider: Current license in the State of California as an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner). Experience Experience with treatment of substance use disorders and serious mental illnesses in a community or mental health treatment setting. Experience with diagnosing substance use disorders and associated psychosocial, legal, and medical complications. Experience with supervision of Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. (Preferred) Certification with American Board of Addiction Medicine. (Preferred) Requirements Must possess your own DEA license without restrictions and furnishing number. Special Conditions Must be willing to undergo random drug screenings. Working Conditions Frequently ascend and descend stairs. Frequently stand and / or sit for 6-8 hours. Frequently crouch below the waist and / or above the shoulders. Frequently lift and / or move objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally push and / or pull objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally work at various locations across Los Angeles County. Position Reports To Director of Nursing Position Type Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, In-Person Pay Range $70 - $90 / Hour
