Overview:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City is seeking a passionate and dynamic Community Outreach/YPI Coordinator to lead the recruitment, engagement, and facilitation of our Youth Police Initiative (YPI).
This 16-week program aims to empower teens aged 12 to 18 through engaging sessions that foster personal growth and community connection.
The ideal candidate will be a master facilitator with a strong ability to connect with youth in the Kansas City area and demonstrate effective outreach strategies.
As the Community Outreach/YPI Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in changing the perception that today's youth have of the local police department.
Your mission will be to bridge the gap and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and young people, facilitating open dialogue and mutual understanding.
At the outset of the program, you will conduct a pre-assessment with participants to gauge their initial feelings towards the police, followed by a post-test assessment, once the training has been completed.
This will enable us to measure any shifts in perception and assess the effectiveness of our efforts in building trust and rapport between youth and law enforcement.
Your leadership in this initiative will be vital in creating a supportive environment where constructive conversations can take place.
Key Responsibilities: Recruitment: Identify and engage potential participants through targeted outreach efforts, including cold calling, community events, and collaboration with local organizations.
Facilitation: Lead and facilitate 16 interactive sessions, ensuring that content is relevant, engaging, and inclusive for all participants.
Engagement: Foster a positive and welcoming environment that encourages active participation and builds rapport with youth.
Program Management: Coordinate logistics for each session, including scheduling, materials preparation, and participant communication.
Community Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote the program and reach a diverse audience.
Feedback and Improvement: Collect participant feedback to assess program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.
Qualifications: Education: Minimum of a high school diploma; further education or experience in youth development or community engagement is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience working with youth, particularly in a facilitative or outreach capacity.
Familiarity with the Kansas City area and existing community networks is highly desirable.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with teens.
Ability to effectively engage and motivate youth.
Proficiency in outreach strategies, including cold calling.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
