What we're seeking: The Outside Plant Design Engineer II is responsible for the design of outside plant network from central office to the customer premises, including underground, aerial, and buried plant for new construction and maintenance activity in the Frontier network. In this in-person role, you will be required to report to our Rochester, NY location to complete your work responsibilities.
What we need in you: We need you to be a motivated self-starter with good communication skills and a clear ability to prioritize. Your ability to manage your own workload, work with other engineers, vendors, and municipalities will also serve you well.
What you'll do: Utilizing current and evolving technologies including digital loop carrier, broadband, and DSL to accomplish work assignmentsUtilizing personal computers and/or paper records to obtain information, design circuits and distribute circuit ordersUtilizing automated design programs as warrantedInterfacing with other organizations throughout the provisioning process in order to facilitate an accurate designUsing OSP methods & procedures and multiple databases to prepare designsUtilizing service order systems to resolve errors, assignment inventory, and DLC records, and hi-capacity circuitsUsing planning documents, field notes, and multiple databases to analyze data and prepare specific estimates, routine work orders, and/or other defined projects for growth, relief, customer demand, and damaged plant in the outside plant networkDuring physical field visits, individuals must be able to identify/recognize incorrect or unsafe conditions and design proper corrective plant configurationsOverseeing work of Engineering vendors as necessary to manage workloadTracking and monitoring construction and other departments, which may include contractors, to ensure the timely completion of the engineering work orders and plans issuedUsing economically cost-effective methods and interfacing with multiple databases to ensure timely customer satisfaction with provisioning issuesAbility to engineer Greenfield subdivisions with fiber and maintain our new extensive FTTH network in the Rochester, NY areaAbility to obtain permits from municipalities and joint-use partnersUtilizing computer-assisted drafting tools, where availableWhat we offer: Nothing is more important to our success than the team that built it.
