Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.5 years of experience with Hardware Test Management (e.g., test methodologies, planning, execution, and reporting).Experience operating Antenna and RF test equipment (OTA anechoic chamber, network analyzers, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, RF communication testers, C-SAR).Preferred qualifications:Experience with scripting and automation tools for data collection and analysis.Experience driving new technologies in the domain of RF and Antenna hardware testing.Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., PTCRB, WIFI alliance, etc.), regulatory requirements (FCC, IC, CE etc.), and their respective certification processes.Familiarity with CTIA test plans and Carriers OTA specifications.Proficiency in identifying the root cause of any test discrepancies and troubleshooting problems with devices and test platforms.About the jobGoogle's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
As the Over The Air (OTA) Test Engineer on the TechEng Wearable Wireless team, you will work jointly with the hardware design team to test, debug, and validate the wireless performance across a variety of wireless technologies (WWAN, GNSS, WLAN/Bluetooth, UWB, and other emerging new radio technologies) on amazing Pixel products and collaborate closely with talented cross-functional teams in developing industry-leading hardware products.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$145,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. ResponsibilitiesPerform OTA RF testing/debugging of Pixel products, including different consumer electronics form-factors and wireless technologies (WWAN/GNSS/WLAN/BT/UWB and other emerging radio technologies).Perform conducted and radiated RF/antenna measurements of devices and systems (Efficiency/Gain, TRP/TIS, EIRP/EIS, throughput, RSSI, SAR, etc.). Generate meaningful test reports to help the design team to draw conclusions.Work closely with Antenna/RF/Certification/Modem Software teams to bring-up, validate, test Antenna OTA systems, and define test plans. Assist with debugging test discrepancies and failures as required.Operate and maintain test equipment including calibration, inspection, maintenance, repairing, software/hardware updates, software license management, vendor engagement, etc.Identify/recommend creative ways to enhance existing test practices and adopt new system-level features or test protocols.Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
