ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY A. Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager B. Supervises: Licensed Practical Nurse and Nurse Assistant C. Key Working Relationships: Other nursing colleagues, ancillary & medical staff D. Primary Customer Groups: Patients, families and visitors Age/Population of Patients Served: Neonatal x Adolescent x Geriatric X Pediatric x Adult All Ages ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS A. Assesses and evaluates the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes. Develops and implements patient's plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient's condition ((Problem identification, Problem solving). C. Guides and directs patient care activities for the above-indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence based practice (Problem Solving, Problem Identification). D. Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs (Initiative, Adherence to Policy) E. Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers (Teamwork, Communication). F. Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. Department meeting attendance requirement: 80% with 50% in person if department meetings are available by webinar. (Communication/Adherence to Policy) G. Serves as a steward for the hospital's human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Participates on shared governance councils, department/housewide committees/work teams as requested POSITION QUALIFICATIONS A. Education 1. Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa required 2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred B. Experience 1. Previous experience in acute care preferred. C. Special Skills and Competencies: 1. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs. 2. Self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision. 3. On Call within an hour of notification of add on cases. 4. Completes the following mandatory courses (check all that apply): X Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status. X Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines X Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. X Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Complete assigned ECCO modules within 6 months of hire. (for CCU only) X Completes Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management class or equivalent within 3 months of hire, and annual skill validation for Cardiac Dysrhythmias Motor Vehicle:
