The Role
The Paralegal Specialist will be responsible for:
Reviewing and processing Stipulations, Motions, and Orders
Preparing Subpoenas and files for Appellate review
Communicating directly with claimants who are not represented by attorneys
Drafting correspondence and other documentation for Administrative Law Judges
In this position, you will discover the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis and will work closely with the Staff and Administrative Law Judges to facilitate the workers' compensation hearing process. More details can be found in the class specification.
About Us
The WCC administers the workers' compensation laws of the State of Connecticut with the ultimate goal of ensuring that workers injured on the job receive prompt payment of lost work time benefits and attendant medical expenses. To this end, the Commission facilitates voluntary agreements, adjudicates disputes, makes findings and awards, hears and rules on appeals, and closes out cases through full and final stipulated settlements.
Position Highlights
Full-time position working 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday schedule
First shift, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM
Office location is WCC's Seventh District Office which is located in Stamford, CT with an option to telework one day per week upon successful completion of a working test period.
