Adjunct Faculty Parenting Today Department of Sciences School of Arts and Sciences Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach, on site in the Behavioral and Social Sciences program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course:
Parenting Today (BEHS 343, 3 Credits) : An overview of critical issues in modern parenting in the United States and the world. Using an interdisciplinary perspective, students will apply research and theory in family development to practical decision making, taking into account modern and historical trends such as gender roles, socioeconomic status, and single parenting and the impact of divorce on children. Students will also examine the role of race and ethnicity in parenting, LGBT parenting, multigenerational and military families.
Required Education and Experience Master's degree within the Social Sciences or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Professional experience in social work or a related field.
This position is specifically to teach on-site at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA.
Preferred Education and Experience Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
A terminal degree within the Social Sciences or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning is preferred.

Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
