PAY AND BENEFITS Annual Pay Range: $54,294.35 - $68,283.47 Hourly Pay Range: $26.103054 - $32.828592 Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are searching for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Park Ranger. If selected for this position, you will provide a wide range of services and assistance to park visitors. In this role, you will have an opportunity to demonstrate your excellent customer service skills, which are at the core of this position. Your primary responsibilities will be to protect, maintain, operate, and repair county park lands, natural areas, campgrounds, and day-use areas.
You will play a critical role in the administrative and facility maintenance tasks, as well as scheduling, leading, and coordinating the work of personnel in park maintenance and landscaping activities. You will serve as the lead to seasonal staff, providing guidance and expertise they may need. Another important task is enforcing county ordinances and regulations for the use of county parks to ensure safety compliance, as well as preparing and issuing written warnings and citations to visitors as necessary.
Our County Parks program provides outdoor recreation, camping, and land stewardship services to residents and visitors so they can experience clean, safe, and healthy recreation and natural resource opportunities in rural Clackamas County. Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:* A minimum of two (2) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position Experience working in a park or recreation setting Experience leading staff or volunteers Experience with basic carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, and/or small equipment maintenance skill Must be available to work irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:* Experience with computerized reservation systems, such as campground, hotel, or similar Experience working within an established budget Experience with record keeping and filing reports Experience operating water or sewer systems Training in tactical communications or de-escalation techniques Basic knowledge of computer software applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. WORKING CONDITIONS Duties are performed outdoors in a variety of conditions, including excessive temperatures, inclement weather and exposure to various hazardous chemicals. Positions require strenuous physical exertion and agility, including climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling and lifting objects.
Please note that this position requires the following: Working irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and may work overtime as necessary Wearing a uniform, provided by Clackamas County Parks WORK SCHEDULE This position works in a County department that is open 7-days a week, 365-days a year. Shifts for this position include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Additionally, incumbent may be required to work irregular shifts, which may include a mix of morning, midday, and evening shifts. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for the position at the time an offer of employment is extended.
