The City of Port Townsend is recruiting to fill one opening in the Parks division of our Public Works Department.
the vacancy will be filled at either the Maintenance Worker, Operator I, or Operator II level depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision performs a variety of maintenance and repair work to various park and recreation facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential duties also include Core Competencies described in detail in the . Conducts landscape and ground maintenance and repair activities including mowing, line trimming, tree pruning, weed removal, planting, and irrigation work Performs maintenance and repair activities to park facilities including painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and concrete work Operates equipment including backhoe, front-end loader, riding mowers, chainsaws, liner trimmers, and power tools when needed and as qualified Transports equipment with truck and trailer to varying work sites Performs custodial duties including public restroom cleaning and emptying garbage cans Cleans and maintains park facilities to acceptable standards Maintains basic record keeping regarding purchases and work activities.
Enforces park rules through public education and interaction Works with volunteer groups Assists with preventative maintenance of equipment in coordination with the Fleet division Assists with development and implementation of safety programs Other duties as assigned Parks Maintenance Worker

$26.48-30.27 base pay range

$26.48-33.90 total pay range including maximum possible longevity

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months in this position Traffic Control and Flagging certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months in this position Preferred Qualifications 2 years' experience working in parks or a related field Experience working with landscape equipment and medium equipment such as tractors and loaders Experience using a maintenance management software program Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Current CDL Class A or B GIS and GPS mapping experience Parks Operator I

$32.21-36.44 base pay range

$32.21-36.08 total pay range including maximum potential longevity

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier At least 3 years of experience working in parks or a related field Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager State of Washington Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being in this position Traffic Control and Flagging certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months in this position Preferred Qualifications 5+ years' experience working in parks maintenance Experience using a maintenance management software program Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Current CDL Class A or B State of Washington Pesticide Applicator License Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) GIS and GPS mapping experience Parks Operator II

$34.50-39.18 base pay range

$34.50-43.88 total pay range including maximum potential longevity

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier At least 8 years of experience working in parks or related fields Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager State of Washington Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager First Aid/CPR certification or must obtain within 1 year of being in this position Flagger Training Certification within the first 6 months in this position Preferred Qualifications Considerable experience working with landscape equipment and medium equipment such as tractors and loaders Considerable experience using a maintenance management software program Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Current CDL Class A or B Considerable irrigation repair knowledge State of Washington Pesticide Applicator License Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) GIS and GPS mapping experience 3+ years' experience as a job site superintendent or lead WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires being onsite working in the field primarily in the outdoors during all types of weather; repeated walking, bending, stooping and lifting; the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
