For more information about the school, including our guiding principles, please visitJob SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and qualified part-time ASL teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ASL and Deaf culture, as well as experience in teaching ASL at the high school level. The part-time ASL teacher will be responsible for developing engaging curriculum, fostering a supportive learning environment, and effectively instructing students in ASL proficiencyResponsibilitiesCreate a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that helps foster students' intellectual, social, and emotional developmentDeliver effective ASL instruction using a variety of teaching methods, incorporating multimedia resources and hands-on activities to engage students of diverse learning stylesImplement best practices in data-driven instruction, including inquiry and hands-on activities, demonstrations, lectures, and discussionsCommunicate regularly with families to identify students' talents, interests, and needs and update families regarding students' achievements and progressCollaborate with staff and the Elizabeth Seton High School community in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance students' learning experience and increase student achievementAct as a mentor and promote teamwork among studentsIdentify the special needs of students and seek additional support, as neededMaintain and submit necessary records, progress reports, and grade reportsAdhere to the professional and ethical standards as outlined in the ESHS Employee HandbookRequired Skills and Abilities:Stay updated on best practices in ASL instruction, Deaf culture, and educational technologyPractical technology skills, including learning management systems (Blackbaud and Google Classroom)A desire to teach in a Catholic School committed to Catholic education and the formation of young women in Christian characterExemplary character and demonstrated services to othersStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCreativity and an ability to collaborate with colleaguesWillingness and ability to contribute to an atmosphere and environment conducive to our girls' academic, spiritual, social, and emotional developmentEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Education, ASL, Deaf Studies, or related field (Master's degree preferred)State teaching certification or licensure in ASL educationProficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culturePrevious experience teaching ASL at the high school level is preferred.Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and in-services requiredIf interested, please send a cover letter and a resume to [REMOVED - SEE ORIGINAL LISTING]Elizabeth Seton High School, an Equal Opportunity Employer, does not discriminate based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, gender, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law in the administration of its employment practices.
