THEATRE AND DANCE - PART-TIME LECTURER POOL, THEATRE PROGRAM. The Theatre and Dance Department, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturers in Theatre. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the 2024-2025 academic year, which begins September 16, 2024. Teaching assignments are contingent upon budget and enrollments. Assignments may include teaching courses such as: Introduction to Theatre, Theatre History, Improvised Narratives, American Theatre and/or Topics in Diversity on the American Stage, World Drama, Rehearsal and Performance, Music Direction and Vocal Coaching, Stage Management, Production Management, Sound Design and Engineering, and Technologies in Design and Technical Production.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2023, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,007-$6,359
Lecturer B: $5,925-$12,594
Lecturer C: $6,500-$13,831
Lecturer D: $8,184-$14,487

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Theatre Arts related Bachelors degree is a minimum requirement for those teaching activity or lab sections. Candidates for lecture classes must have at least a Master's degree in Theatre Arts (e.g., MA, MFA).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those with university-level teaching experience.
Ph.D. in Theatre Arts or Performance Studies preferred for lecture and seminar sections.

The Theatre and Dance Department is part of the College of Liberal Arts and provides educational opportunities for majors in Theatre, minors in Dance, and in both areas for students from all other campus disciplines.
