Parts Inventory Management: Maintain, organize, and catalog the inventory of automobile parts. Keep an up-to-date record of the availability and location of specific parts. Check parts for any damages or defects. Identify when parts need to be restocked. Customer Service: Assist customers or service technicians in finding the right parts for their automotive needs. This may involve interpreting part descriptions or using computer databases to find specific parts. In some cases, it may require you to physically fetch the part from the storage area. Sales Support: Provide pricing information and prepare sales invoices. Process customer orders and requests for parts, which might include handling transactions or arranging delivery for larger parts. Upsell additional parts or accessories when appropriate and beneficial for the customer. Vendor Management: Coordinate with various suppliers or manufacturers to order parts as needed. This could include negotiating pricing, overseeing deliveries, and resolving any issues with the quality or quantity of parts received. Technical Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the latest automotive parts and trends to effectively serve customers. In some instances, you may need to explain the function of certain parts to customers or service technicians. Problem-Solving: Resolve any discrepancies with inventory, customer orders, or deliveries. This could involve tracking down lost orders, replacing defective parts, or adjusting inventory records as needed. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is generally required, though some employers may prefer candidates with post-secondary education in automotive technology or a related field. Prior experience in a parts department, auto repair shop, or similar environment can be beneficial. Knowledge of automotive parts and systems. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with computers and inventory management software. Ability to lift heavy parts or equipment, if necessary. Detail-oriented and good organizational skills.
