Position Summary InterDigital is currently looking for someone to lead the effort of reviewing its claim-charted patents after grant and provide litigation support. The person will work with Portfolio Management, Patent attorney and Licensing support teams in leading these efforts.
The selected candidate will be responsible for review of claim-charted assets following grant to assess invalidity and infringement risk. The person will also be responsible for organizing the resources from the patent team to support different litigation projects led by the Company's litigation team.
Our Patent Department plays a core role in the organization located in Wilmington DE, New York City, Washington DC, Conshohocken PA, and France (Paris and Rennes). The department provides patent support to our Research sites, in the United States, Canada and Europe, collaborating actively with the Research and Innovation teams to protect high value inventions, reading on standards or products. The department also provides full support to our licensing and litigation teams and is focused on strategic portfolio management in support of corporate objectives. Responsibilities Lead the creation of the post grant portfolio review strategy and lead the communication to the related parties.Lead and facilitate management of post grant portfolio review process and perform due diligence review of the claim charted patents to assess infringement and invalidity risk. This task involves coordinating between internal team and/or external teams including the external consulting firms and prosecution law firms.Establish and progress relationship management with the Portfolio Management team to manage the patent families in different jurisdictions with claim charts, including finalizing the claim charts if there is a need.Lead patent team liaison to the global litigation team. Support global litigation and invalidation actions, including providing feedback to the patent prosecution team from litigation reviews and results to improve prosecution quality.Maintain awareness of global SEP litigation cases and case law to provide feedback and guidance to the related parties in the patent department in order to enhance the prosecution process and patent filing strategy.Assume leadership role in cross-functional patents activities, including patent portfolio management strategy and all portfolio quality review projects.Qualifications: The potential candidate will possess the following:
8+ years' experience as a US patent attorney.BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or another closely related technology area relevant to InterDigital's business activities.Experience in the field of wireless communication; working knowledge of wireless standards (3GPP, IEEE 802.11, etc.) and/or experience in standards-based prosecution.Experience in post grant proceedings including post grant reviews, inter partes reviews, Invalidity Proceedings, Oppositions.Experience in licensing and litigation.Previous experience working with large cellular communication companies is preferred.Previous experience in managing projects with multiple teams is preferred.Ability to take initiative and work independently, while frequently collaborating with a broader team.Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization and possession of a global mindset.Location: One of our US East Coast office locations in PA, DE, DC or NY.

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range specific to NY, DE, CA, DC is $205,000 - $295,000 annually + discretionary incentive bonus, benefits and may include other forms of compensation components such as long-term incentives. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
