Overview:
Join our prestigious law firm specializing in intellectual property law as a Patent Prosecution Attorney. Focus on drafting and prosecuting patent applications for computer hardware, software, and electronics inventions. Provide strategic legal counsel on patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate.
Responsibilities:
Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and international patent offices. Advise clients on patent matters and develop prosecution strategies aligned with business objectives. Manage patent portfolios, conduct portfolio analysis, and optimize patent protection strategies. Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and technical experts to understand inventions and assess patentability. Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents to support patentability assessments. Draft legal opinions, memoranda, and correspondence related to patent prosecution and IP matters. Conduct due diligence reviews of patents and intellectual property assets for transactions.
Qualifications:
JD degree from an accredited law school; USPTO admission required. 8+ years of experience in patent prosecution, focusing on computer hardware, software, and electronics. Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to manage a large patent prosecution docket effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field. Experience with patent litigation and/or licensing. Prior experience in an IP law firm.
