Job Title: Patient Accounts Billing Representative Job Specialty: Clerical/Administrative Support - Patient Accounting Job Duration: Not specified Shift: Day M-F 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Clerical and business aptitude with one to two years of hospital experience License: Not specified Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: High school graduation required, clerical experience, ability to use basic office equipment, and proficiency in the English language Job Description: - Responsible for review of unbilled claims and bills to ensure timely billing and claim resolution to expedite payment.- Process accounts to minimize billing time and maximize cash flow.- Complete editing of claims in the HIS system.- Process claims either on paper or electronically to third-party carriers.- Conduct follow-up on aged accounts as directed.- Review trial balance reports and process late charges.- Ensure adherence to federal and state billing regulations.- Complete accurate billing to all third-party insurance carriers.- Monitor host system and biller scrubber to ensure timely resolution of unbilled accounts.- Review third-party trial balance reports within the current month.- Research and initiate refunds to patients or insurance carriers as needed.- Send inquiries to patients regarding inaccurate or incomplete information.- Complete charge adjustments and allowances entries on accounts as needed.- Re-code accounts by insurance carrier and plan number and enter into the HIS for re-billing purposes.- Process rejections on third-party accounts.- Review mail correspondence and respond accordingly.- Review online billing edits for errors, corrections, or missing information, and enter necessary corrections into HIS.- Assist with telephone calls as needed.- Complete rebilling process for late charges on a daily basis.- Monitor host system and bill scrubber for billing delays and expedite processing.- Perform other related duties as assigned.
