The selected candidate will join a team of Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Physicians, Residents, and other esteemed members of the interdisciplinary team to provide care to our valued patient population.
Support staff on the unit includes Stroke Coordinator, Respiratory Therapy, physical and occupational and speech therapy, case management, nutritional services, social work, pharmacy, pastoral care, and community nursing service
The unit is managed by the Nurse Manager with a designated charge nurse each shift.
The house nursing supervisor provides leadership during off hours and on weekends.
Neurologists, Neurosurgery, and hospitalist support is available either in-house or by pager 24/7.
Flexible self-scheduling, with designated third weekend commitment and accommodating three holidays per year.
Position Requirements Minimum Education: Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Minimum Experience: Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Licensure/Certifications: Required: Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA
Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program.
Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.
