DESCRIPTION Acts as charge nurse on shift assigned to lead and supervise all staff in providing care to residents and makes decisions in evaluation of resident conditions. Gives medications, including IV push and IV piggyback medications. Starts IV as ordered. (Only LPNs with inservice in IV therapy may start IV). Takes vital signs and records on medical record those required with certain type medications. Collects lab specimen and records results. Administers prescribed procedures such as enemas, etc. Provides for the physical and emotional well being and care of the residents. Participates and provides input to other ancillary personnel at weekly Medicare and care plan conference information that will further benefit the resident plan of care. Chart any information pertinent to resident and does weekly and/or monthly summaries as assigned addressing any resident needs according to the care plan. Provides and supervises administration of treatments using medications such as Decubitus care, G-tube care and Foley catheter care. All dressings are done using sterile or aseptic technique. Inserts Foley catheters using sterile technique. Education/Qualifications/Requirements: Graduate of an Accredited School of Licensed Practical Nursing. Holds a current State of Georgia License. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. 20 hours of education every two (2) years by a Board approved provider in order to maintain LPN license. Experience: Prior experience in a long-term care facility preferred but not required.
