Job Overview: The Payment Officer will be responsible for managing and executing the company's payment processing activities, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable regulations. This role involves working closely with the legal and finance team, other departments, and external partners to ensure smooth and efficient payment operations. The Payment Officer will also be responsible for maintaining financial records, resolving payment issues, and providing regular reports to management.
Key Responsibilities: Payment Processing:Manage and execute daily payment operations, including processing invoices, payroll, and vendor payments.Ensure all payments are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.Monitor and reconcile payment transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.Financial Record-Keeping:Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records for all payment transactions.Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to payment activities.Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure that all payments are correctly recorded in the accounting system.Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure that all payment processes comply with internal controls, company policies, and external regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, FATCA, and CRS requirements).Identify and mitigate potential risks related to payment processing.Assist in audits by providing documentation and explanations as required.Vendor and Client Management:Liaise with vendors and clients to resolve payment-related inquiries and issues.Maintain strong relationships with banks and payment service providers.Ensure timely communication and follow-up with stakeholders regarding payment statuses.Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities to improve payment processes and workflows.Implement best practices for payment processing and financial control.Stay informed about industry trends and changes in payment regulations.Reporting:Prepare regular reports on payment activities, including metrics on payment processing times, error rates, and compliance adherence.Provide insights and recommendations to management based on payment data analysis.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in payment processing, financial operations, or a similar role.Strong understanding of payment systems, banking operations, and financial regulations.Proficiency in financial software and payment processing systems.Knowledge of AML, KYC, FATCA, and CRS regulations is highly desirable.Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) are a plus.
