Summary: Vaxcyte is seeking a highly energetic and self-motivated individual to join our growing Accounting and Finance Team. The Payroll Manager is responsible for all aspects of the payroll process. The ideal candidate is one who has a can-do attitude, a customer-centric approach to his or her work with vigor and determination and has demonstrated the ability to deliver results in a high growth environment. \n Essential Functions:Prepare and process all aspects of global payroll, including generating W-2s and processing benefits (health insurance, 401K, FSA, stock compensation, etc.). Monitor tax withholding submission requirements to taxing authorities outside of payroll cycles (e.g., tax withholding > $100,000 for stock compensation). Actively engaged in the onboarding and offboarding of employees, sometimes in remote locations that require registration or other coordination with external resources.Participate in the month-end close process, journal entries and reconciliation preparations and completions as needed.Serve as a backup for certain Stock Administration activities. Look for ways to automate and improve processes for both payroll and stock administration for scalability.Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, including SOX controls, and all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws. Perform payroll process SOX controls and participate in walkthrough and internal control testing.Prepare schedules for internal and external audits and various other regulatory audits (401K, Workers' Compensation, etc.) Provide employee education and respond to inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters. Assist with providing various equity-related reports for accounting, tax and audit purposes.Assist with special projects as needed, including ERP and other accounting- related implementations and upgrades. Requirements:Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Minimum 10 years of full-cycle payroll experience with Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. Experience with U.S. federal and state taxation relating to equity compensation and general knowledge of global taxation of equity compensation. Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and NetSuite.International payroll experience in Switzerland and Canada strongly preferred.Strong Excel skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines with meticulous attention to detail. \nReports to: Associate Director, Accounting Location: San Carlos, CA Compensation: The compensation package will be competitive and includes comprehensive benefits and an equity component. Salary Range: $154,000 – $161,000 (SF Bay Area). Salary ranges for non-California locations may vary.
