Adheres to the medical staff rules and regulations. Provides direct medical and surgical care to patients with neurosurgical disorders and participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. Supports the mission, vision, and goals of Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) and Father Flanagan's Boys' Home.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Provides direct patient care within the clinic setting and in the surgery suite during the operative procedure. Ensures administration of high-quality, safe patient care, including functioning as a resource.Available or has another medical doctor with the same skill set covering for care of the patient 24/7.Participates in educational programs related to neurosurgery. Provides education to staff related to neurosurgical procedures as requested.Complies with all policies and procedures at BTNRH including regulatory standards for The Joint Commission and CMS.Offers suggestions for equipment/supply selection, and evaluation.Promotes ongoing performance improvement.Provides input into policies and procedures for surgical areas.Serves on hospital and system committees as assigned.Promotes the culture of safety and a non-punitive environment.Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships among disciplines and departments to ensure delivery of quality patient care.Participates in various medical and hospital committees as needed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Communicate with patients, families, and staff, and collaborate with other members of the health care team to enhance patient care.Promote professionalism.Implement, facilitate and sustain change.Independently manage multiple priorities.Utilize the electronic medical record.Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited medical school required.Certified/board eligible by the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery required.Possess or be able to attain medical licensure in the State of Nebraska required.Knowledge of and experience in pediatric/adult clinical practice required.Able to qualify for hospital staff privileges at Boys Town National Research Hospital and maintain those privileges required.Diversity is more than a commitment at Boys Town—it is the foundation of who we are and what we do.
