DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington is seeking a faculty position as full-time Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) or Associate Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) on the Clinician Scholar pathway to join the Division of Cardiology. Academic rank at the time of appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Anticipated start date is Summer of 2025.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $17,865 - $26,797 per month ($214,380 - $321,564 annually), Associate Professors $21,445 - $32,169 per month ($257,340 - $386,028 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibility will be on the inpatient and outpatient general cardiology services.Appropriate and timely documentation related to inpatient and outpatient care and consults.Will share in the standard call pool responsibilities for inpatient coverage for nights and weekend rounding coverage.Timely communication with referring providers and families.Engage with consultants, other providers in a multidisciplinary model of care.Supervise trainees on inpatient and outpatient services.Clinical CareProvide excellent clinical care and in the process, support safe, efficient, and high-quality services on those teams which the faculty member participates on.Ensure appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of the faculty member's patients.PlanningWorks with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are attained.Participates in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children's leadership.RegulatoryResponds in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints.Supports legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.Provides input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies.Maintains professionalism with regards to billing, documentation, conference attendance and collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients, and families.Quality Improvement/ResearchSupport timely review of any patient safety events.Support a robust M&M program and identify opportunities for improvement.Participate in Quality Improvement efforts which include Cardiology Microsystem activities and weekly meetings.Participate in PAC3 database data integrity, PAC3 improvement activities, attend PAC3 meetings, and support national collaborative efforts.EducationSupport cardiac clinical educational programs for nursing, medical students, residents, fellows, and ARNPs.Support residents and fellows on service and participate in structured resident education.All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship and service.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will:
Have earned an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent).Board Certified or board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.Must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of a foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
