DescriptionThe Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics invites interested applicants for 2 full-time open positions as Acute Care Oncologists.
The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center provides a rich and collaborative environment for basic, clinical, and translational research and boasts a diverse faculty. The Oncology Program is an integral component of the Center, currently including 36 faculty members, 9 fellows, and 27 advanced practice providers. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of demonstrated clinical expertise caring for pediatric hematology patients. The Center has close affiliations with research investigators within the Seattle Children's Research Institute, the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and the University of Washington, and a willingness to collaborate across departmental or center boundaries is essential.
These positions will devote the majority of effort to clinical responsibilities in the Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Seattle Children's Hospital. Responsibilities include providing in-hospital overnight attending care for medical issues arising in Hematology, Oncology, and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) patients, and supervision and clinical teaching of residents. Acute Care Oncology appointments also include non-clinical Academic Service Time for clinical education, Quality Improvement (QI) research, and administrative duties. At times, formal coursework is available for Acute Care Oncologists interested in developing their QI and teaching skills.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. These positions will be full-time at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, and will serve as Acute Care Oncology attending physicians. Acute Care Oncology attendings are University of Washington faculty members and are candidates for raises and promotions. Like all clinical faculty, Acute Care Oncology attending positions have a 12-month service period and are reappointed on an annual basis. Depending on availability, Acute Care Oncology attendings may also have the opportunity to assume some daytime clinical duties in their second year and beyond.
Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate Professors, and Clinical Professors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July - June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: Clinical Assistant Professors MD $13,085 - $19,627 per month ($157,020 - $235,524 annually), Clinical Associate Professors MD $16,168 - $24,250 per month ($194,016 - $291,000 annually), Clinical Professors MD $20,335 - $30,502 per month ($244,020 - $366,024 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in university benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by CUMG may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may include incentives through the CUMG practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications, which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).
QualificationsQualifications include:
Pediatric board certification, and board-eligibility/board-certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.Applicants should be comfortable with the inpatient care of sick children.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
