The Department of Pediatric Radiology provides a full range of imaging services for newborns, infants, children, teenagers, young adults and pregnant women at Boston Children's Hospital and our satellite clinics in , carries out more than 200,000 imaging studies each year, using the latest equipment and techniques specially designed or adapted for use with children.
The per diem CT Technologist is responsible for the following:Performs routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis.Reviews and evaluates requisitions for CT imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for CT examinations.Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.Performs basic imaging analysis (e.g. 3D).Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.Consistently provides exceptional care and exceptional service.Follows Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow ExpectationsPractices High Reliability Training.Patient/Family RelationsResponds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.EquipmentIdentifies and reports equipment malfunctions.OperationsAssists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section.GeneralParticipates in departmental and hospital meetings.Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Complies with ETU.Complies with HIPAA regulations.Practices the 6 core values of the Hospital; excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.Professional DevelopmentFurthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file. The CT Technologist must have the following:RT/CT Massachusetts State LicenseAdvanced CT Massachusetts State License is required within 12 months of hire date for CT trainees.RT/CT registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.BLS certificationAssociates degree in Allied Health1 year of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist
