CORE JOB SUMMARY The UMMG Staff Physician provides medical care to patients as outlined by the medical staff rules and regulations. The incumbent in this position receives patient care assignments based on their educational discipline, expertise, and experience.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Provide patient care services at UMH (University of Miami Hospital), JMH (Jackson Memorial Hospital) and satellites, and SCCC (Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center) and satellites, focused on assigned specialties.Review and interpret cytogenetic data, including karyotyping, FISH, and other molecular and cytogenetic techniques.Prepare and sign out detailed and accurate cytogenetic reports and follow institution procedures and protocols.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.Provide consultation to healthcare providers regarding cytogenetic findings when needed.Attend and present at relevant tumor boards, as requested.Service productivity will be assigned according to the departmental compensation plan, previously approved by UHealth Compensation Committee.Participate in educational activities of pathology residents and fellows as needed.Participate in educational activities of medical students as needed.Maintain high standards of professional services to ensure the Department of Pathology maintains JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.Report hazardous or unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and supply instrumentation inadequacies to appropriate personnel.Report all Quality Assurance (QA) incidences, including medication errors, to the responsible physician using department guidelines.Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Ph.D or M.D. in relevant field.Certification and Licensing: Relevant certification or licenses required to practice in Florida in relevant specialty or field.Experience: Minimum of 2 years of sign-out experience in a clinical cytogenetics laboratory.Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.Commitment to the University's core values.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission, and more.
