Job Overview:
Operate the Heart Lung Machine during Open Heart Surgery, maintaining the patient's hemodynamic and physiologic parameters within acceptable limits for adult procedures including minimally invasive and Davinci Robotic procedures, TAVRs, Left Heart Bypass, and ECMO; operate various Cardiovascular Life Support equipment including Cardiohelp, Centrimag, Belmont pump for HIPEC, Angiovac procedures, IABP, Cell Savers and POC testing; Operate and maintain Heater Cooler Devices for CPB Procedures.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Perfusion, or graduate of an ABCP recognized Perfusion Program
Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
CCP Certification in Cardiovascular Perfusion by ABCP or eligible
Certification required within 2 years of date of Hire
Knowledge of special procedures such as heart bypass, circulatory arrest, and cerebral perfusion
Ability to prepare and use these procedures with little or no supervision
Job Responsibilities:
Provides auto transfusion services and support to all surgical specialties throughout TriHealth.
Preserves, supports, or enhances acceptable hemodynamic and physiologic parameters before, during, and after such operations using various mechanical life support systems.
Monitosr parameters utilizing blood gas analysis, activated clotting times, and glucose monitoring, and effectively and promptly treats any parameters outside of the acceptable limits.
Maintains adequate tissue perfusion for each patient undergoing open heart or major vascular surgery using the heart lung bypass machine.
Effectively communicates with the surgeon and anesthesiologist during surgery to optimize patient conditions during and after surgery.
Cooperate and complies with departmental policies regarding on-call coverage, emergency response times, scheduling and staffing and teamwork.
