The Department of Fire and Rescue is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist to lead and manage its comprehensive pharmacy program.
In this role, the Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe distribution of medications, managing inventory levels, and resupplying automated dispensing machines.
The position oversees a central pharmacy along with 22 designated locations throughout Prince William County, Virginia.
The Pharmacist will ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations regarding medication storage and control, while also handling supply procurement and budget management to ensure a steady and efficient flow of essential resources.
About This Role:
The Pharmacist functions as a manager of pharmaceutical operations and oversees administrative, clinical, and operational aspects of the Fire and Rescue pharmaceutical unit.
The Pharmacist has additional responsibilities such as procurement, budget, and inventory control.
The ideal candidate ensures adherence to policies and procedures that meet federal, state, and local guidelines.
This position oversees two Pharmacy Technicians.
Minimum Requirements:
* Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school
* Current license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia
* 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care or emergency services pharmacy, including the manufacture of bulk medicaments and the compounding of drugs
Preferences:
* At least one year of supervisory experience
* Three years of experience in an ambulatory care or emergency services pharmacy, including the manufacture of bulk medicaments and the compounding of drugs
* Ability to practice unrestricted in the State of Virginia
Special Requirements:
* Must possess a valid Driver's License
* Annual TB screening, as required by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy
Background checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or fingerprinting may be required as posted in the job advertisement.
Fire & Rescue Requirement: Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia State Board of Health 12VAC5-31-540, VA EMS Regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the Central Crime Records Exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police; and a driving record transcript from the individual's state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Work Schedule:
37.5 hours per week, with the periodic need to work night or weekend hours in support of emergency callbacks.
Hiring Salary Range:
